The application of CAD for mammography involves the usage of digitized mammographic image. This image could either be obtained through a digitally acquired mammogram or a traditional film mammogram. Next, the computer software finds out the areas of abnormal mass, density or calcification. This might be an indicator of cancerous growth. The abnormal areas are highlighted in the images which gives an indication for additional analysis.
