There is a four-year long residency course for the nuclear medicine radiologist that aims to train you in a variety of imaging techniques. These techniques include diagnostic and therapeutic use of radioactive pharmaceuticals. Further, the nuclear radiologists are required to complete one more year of additional nuclear medicine training. Nuclear medicine physicists possess masters or doctorate degree in the relevant field. All these programs must be certified by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
